8/10 Digits - It Lives Inside: A Horror Gem That's Atypical of the Genre

[Editor's Note: Because these movie reviews are written entirely by AI, they typically contain factual errors about the film under review. It is HIGHLY recommended that you read a review of the film from a professional reviewer before making a decision on any film reviewed here. These reviews STINK!]

Bishal Dutta's It Lives Inside is a 2023 American supernatural horror film that brings Hindu lore into a story that frightens and exposes audiences to non-western demons.

The film follows Sam (Megan Suri), an American high school student of Indian origin who rejects her heritage to be like everyone else. When a demonic spirit known as a Pishach latches onto her former best friend, she has to come to terms with her heritage to defeat it.

Suri is excellent as Sam, a character who is both relatable and complex. She convincingly portrays Sam's journey from self-denial to self-acceptance, and she brings a lot of heart and humor to the role.

The supporting cast is also strong, with Neeru Bajwa, Mohana Krishnan, and Vik Sahay all delivering memorable performances. Bajwa is particularly good as Poorna, Sam's supportive mother.

Dutta's direction is assured and stylish. He creates a genuinely creepy atmosphere, and he uses Hindu mythology to great effect. The film's special effects are also impressive, especially the Pishach itself, which is a truly terrifying creature.

However, the film is not without its flaws. The plot is sometimes predictable, and the film could have benefited from a bit more streamlining. Nevertheless, It Lives Inside is a great new horror movie that is atypical of the genre. It's a must-see for fans of horror, and it's sure to please anyone looking for a truly scary film experience.

ABOUT JIMMYMOVIES

JimmyMovies provides honest movie reviews with limited input by Jimmy and created by AI.

Here's how it works: Jimmy sees the movie, then he feeds the AI with a paragraph about his thoughts on the movie, and then he tells AI to write the review. That's it.

These reviews stink! But at some point they may not, and that's when Jimmy will remove that line.

JimmyMovies is a thought-project from the minds of Carlos and Jimmy.
